DEACON IRVIN STEWART MEMORIAL ACACIA TREE
The Acacia Tree is referred to in Exodus 25:10-16. The wood of the Acacia Tree, native to Africa, was used in building the Ark of the Covenant. It has deep roots and survived drought and famine. A large strong tree, it was used as a symbol for Catholics of African descent at the 1st National Black Catholic Congress in 1894.
