CONGRATULATIONS to our choir director, Tyrone Foster, who received the Sandra Gordon Soulful Warrior Award at the 2026 Bishop Fernand J. Cheri, III Gospel Music Festival. As always, the choir’s performance was awesome!
SISTERS OF THE HOLY FAMILY are hosting a day of continuous rosary and Eucharistic Adoration in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary on Wednesday, October 7, for vocations to the Sisters of the Holy Family. The Mass begins at 8:00 a.m., followed by breakfast. The continuous rosary begins at 9:00 a.m., and the day ends at 6:00 p.m. after Eucharistic Adoration. NOTRE DAME HOSPICE is looking for volunteers to visit patients at facilities in our area, such as Chateau de Notre Dame, located behind the Seminary on Carrollton Avenue, and Audubon Retirement Village on Henry Clay Avenue. Volunteers do not need a medical background and do not physically handle patients. You would provide companionship: mainly talk with patients or possibly pray with them, if desired. If interested, please call the Volunteer Coordinator, Janine Bonner, at 504.418.1049. Fliers are in the vestibule of the church.
WOMEN’S MINISTRY will hand out Breast Cancer Awareness Pins to the Women & Men of our Parish, beginning October 3 and 4. We are asking everyone to wear their Breast Cancer Awareness Pin to each Mass throughout the month of October to show support to our families, friends, and our VERY own parishioners who have ENDURED, OVERCOME, or are currently dealing with the challenges of this disease. The Women's Ministry Celebrates in Pink and asks that you show your support by wearing your Pin to every Mass and wearing pink on October 11. Information about Breast Cancer will be provided in the vestibule of the church.
MEN’S MINISTRY begins our parish voting assistance effort today. We want to remind everyone of the important deadlines for each of the two elections that are happening this fall. Those elections are on November 3rd and December 12th. The first deadline to mark on your calendar is October 5th, the last day to register in person or by mail for the November 3 election. Feel free to stop by our table after Mass for more information about the two elections and help accessing voting information. You can also take our contact information if you think you'll need a ride to the polls during early voting or on Election Day. We will be available every weekend between now and the first day of the election on November 3rd.
September is NATIONAL SICKLE CELL AWARENESS MONTH - Sickle Cell patients need your help by donating blood or donating money to assist in finding a cure for this painful disease. Please wear red on Sunday, September 27 in recognition of Sickle Cell Survivors/Warriors Month.
BSSJA BOOK CLUB: All are welcome to join for the first meeting of the BSSJA Book Club! We’ll be discussing Pope Leo’s recent encyclical, Magnification Humanitas, following 10 am Mass on September 27. The meeting will take place in the Convent gathering room for coffee, snacks, and fruitful conversation. Join us as we discover our individual calls to holiness, our role in community, and our understanding of the Church we call home. THE SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT de PAUL THRIFT STORE is accepting donations of gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories for all ages throughout August. Your closet cleanout can make a difference! THE ANNUAL ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY FRIENDS OF THE POOR WALK FUNDRAISER will be on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the LaSalle Park Walking Trail in Metairie. VOTING REGISTRATION ASSISTANCE The Men's Ministry will lead our voter registration and civic engagement efforts to help ensure that everyone eligible has the opportunity to register to vote and exercise that right on Election Day. Assistance will include voter registration, transportation to the polls, and general support for parishioners and members of the community. Additional information will be provided in the coming weeks.
WELCOME HOME SUNDAY will be celebrated the weekend of August 15 and August 16 in response to Archbishop Checchio's invitation to welcome all who may be seeking a spiritual home. This special weekend is an opportunity to invite those who have not returned to Mass since the pandemic, those who have drifted away because of hurt, scandal, or division, those who have felt unseen or unwelcome, those who quietly stopped attending, those who are searching for faith, and even those who have never experienced the Catholic Church. We encourage everyone to personally invite a family member, friend, neighbor, or coworker to join us as we joyfully welcome all to our worshipping community.
HOLY HOUR hosted by our Evangelization Ministry will be held every Wednesday at 6pm in the Convent Chapel. Join us in prayer for an hour.

CHURCH BEAUTIFICATION: Our Parish is seeking assistance from parish ministries to clean our sanctuary weekly in preparation for Masses. Ministries will be scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the year. Ministries and parishioners willing to assist are asked to please sign up in the vestibule or contact Emile Pierre or John Salomone.
